His Majesty Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I. of The Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara (Uganda).
Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom is a subnational monarchy (traditional) in Uganda. HM The Omukama Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I. is a reigning constituent monarch, traditional ruler. He reigns over a legally recognised dominion, but with no sovereign governing / political power. His titles, however, are recognised by the Republic of Uganda. In Uganda, the ancient kingdoms and chiefdoms that were met by the colonialists when they first arrived on the continent are now constitutionally protected as regional entities.
HM The Omukama (King) of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom and the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom were restored by the Amendment [No. 8] Act - Statute No. 8, Article 118 (1)- of 1993 enacted by the Parliament of Uganda and officially recognized and protected by the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda by Chapter IV. –Article 37.-, Chapter XVI. -Article 246. (1) – (6)- of 1995 and by the Amendment [No. 2] Act -schedule V. -Article 178.8- of 2005 and by the Acts Supplement [No. 4] -Act 6. of 2011
“Omukama of Bunyoro” is the title given to rulers of the East African kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara. The kingdom lasted as an independent state from the 16th to the 19th century. The Omukama of Bunyoro remains an important figure in Ugandan politics, especially among the Banyoro people of whom he is the titular head. He is closely related to the Omukama of Toro Kingdom. The Royal Palace, called Karuziika Palace, is located in Hoima. The current Omukama is Solomon Iguru I and his wife is the Queen or Omugo Margaret Karunga. As a cultural head, the King is assisted by his Principal Private Secretary, a Cabinet of 21 Ministers and a Orukurato (Parliament).
His Majesty Omukama (King) Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I has dedicated his life to help his people and his kingdom, to achive a higher standard of living and in a peace. In 2009 the King founded a non-profit organization, “Association of the Representative of the Kingdom Bunyoro-Kitara, worldwide! (ARKBK) CLBG” to achieve the goals and the positive developments for Uganda people and his Kingdom.
The Mission Statement of HM The Omukama ia : “Help people – Preserves culture – Make Peace. Let us go our way hand in hand together with our sisters and brothers in the whole world.Let us reflect on our humanity!”
The speech of HM The Omukama in Caux Forum 2010 had the following content, summarized supstance of HM work: “….to all of us, and I say this emphatically and very clearly! We must not sacrifice all over the world any nation, any ethnic group, any races, etc. for our mechanization and development! We must integrate these nations and these people into the development! No Individual is worth less than the other! If we knowingly destroy our cultural and ethnic bases, we destroy ourselves! We humans have a common past and a beginning; let us remember that! The main task is the developing of the Bunyoro-Kitara and to raise the living standards itself to an international level. Let us not forget that 1.8 million people look at us and believe in our humanity. ….”
His Majesty Rukirabasaija Agutamba Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I is a Ruler of Hoima, Masindi, Kibaale, Buliisa, Kiryandongo, Kagadi and Kakumiro, The Grandson of Kabalega, The Healer, The Orphan Protector, The Hater of Rebellion, The Lion of Bunyoro, The Hero of Bunyoro, The Hero of Kabalega, etc. etc. etc. – 49th Omukama of The Kingdom of Bunyoro-Kitara, 27th Omukama in The Babiito Dynasty, The Sovereign Head and Grand Master of The Royal Order of Omujwaara Kondo and The Royal Order of Engabu, The Sovereign Head, Grand Master and Protector of The Most Honourable Order of Omukama Chwa II Kabalega, The Royal Patron of The Chivalrous and Religious Order of the Crown of Thorns, Royal Patron of The Sovereign, Knightly and Noble Order of The Lion and Black Cross etc. etc. etc.-
His Majesty was born 1948, was crowned 11th June 1994.
